A luxury farm stay with modern comforts and amazing panoramic views of Val d'Orcia

Tuscany Equestrian has a bit of everything for everyone: from the stables with horseback riding outings in the area to the on-site restaurant "Extravergine" which uses local organic ingredients for its olive-oil inspired Tuscan dishes, from the internal Spa area with sauna for relaxing completely to the outdoor hot tubs and swimming pool, all offering panoramic views of the Val d'Orcia UNESCO-protected landscape. That's in addition to its accommodations which are spread out over 3 fully renovated villas that today offer the best modern conveniences, from air-conditioning to top-of-the-line hi-tech modern kitchens.

The 3 villas just reopened this year after the rural homes were purchased and complete renovated just 4 years ago. The Podere Val d'Orcia has the Tuscany Equestrian, Casa Baccano "Il Borgo" and Casa Baccano "Panoramica" offering 19 suites and rooms and these can also be rented as a whole for larger groups, ensuring more privacy and general spaces for just your group. The villas and outdoor spaces between the houses host the estate's panoramic pool, gym, restaurant and Spa area.

A dream becomes reality

The Magri family, originally from northern Italy, fell in love with the land and views of the Val d'Orcia so much that they decided to change life, leave their old family business behind and invest in this gorgeous property just 3 years ago. Creating a riding school and stables to share their love of horses made it easy to include hospitality as part of the project to welcome others to enjoy both horses and the stunning views of the Val d'Orcia.

The estate also has over 10,000 olive trees spread over 18 hectares and is dedicated to creating the finest blends of Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. The restaurant "Extravergine", as might be expected, sets the estate's extra virgin olive oil at the center of its menu, offering guests the opportunity to taste it in all its courses. Guests need not go far to experience some of the best Tuscan cuisine in the area with tastings organized directly on the estate of its own prize winning olive oil and the region's  specialties, from the Pecorino cheeses from Pienza and the prize-winning wines from Montalcino and Montepulciano.

It is the perfect chance to try your hand at a cooking class to learn how to prepare some of the Tuscan dishes you enjoy once you're back home!

Val d'Orcia, the perfect setting for your holidays

There is no way to not cover and highlight how important the landscape here will be to your entire experience while at Tuscany Equestrian. The Val d'Orcia is stunning and offers wonderful views in every direction. Whether you're sitting by the pool, heading to the reception or to the restaurant or just waking up from your sleep, you will be drawn to the view. This is the Tuscany you see in all the postcards so we can understand why it draws the thousands of visitors it does every single day from across the globe.

You will particularly enjoy riding in these hills, taking a trek on horseback to nearby villages and castles and just enjoy being outdoors.

Choosing where to stay: rooms, suites and villas

Depending on the size of your family or traveling group, you'll be able to choose whether you need a B&B setting or prefer to rent a small apartment or an entire farm house. With the restaurant on site, it is possible to have one, two or 3 meals made for you instead of worrying about cooking... or have a kitchen at your disposal and prepare some of your meals on your own.

The first house, Tuscany Equestrian, has the riding school and stables right behind it as well as the restaurant, plus 4 rooms and suites and 2 apartments on the top floor. Every room has its own private bathroom, and the two apartments have their own kitchen and living area. The second house, Casa Baccano Il Borgo, is the largest with its 7 bedrooms, each with its own bath, a spacious and modern kitchen, a living room with fireplace and two additional service bathrooms. If rented as a whole, it can host up to 16 guests. One of the rooms on the ground floor is accessible for disabled guests. The third house, Casa Baccano Panoramica, has 6 rooms, again each with its own bathroom, a spacious professional kitchen with fireplace and a spacious living room. It can host up to 14 guests. These last two houses also have their own laundry room. The stone homes are rustic in style with their stone outside, terracotta floors and interior ceiling wooden beams but host modern furnishings and conveniences.

Wellness at Tuscany Equestrian, from the Spa to the pool to morning yoga

Guests staying at any of the 3 sets of houses on the estate have outdoor spaces with lawn chairs and tables to enjoy outdoor drinks as you enjoy the sunset and views, or to lounge by the 16x8m pool under the shade of the sun umbrellas or loggia and enjoy a good book or the panoramic views of the Val d'Orcia countryside. Each has an outdoor BBQ area perfect for grilling in the summer season. Remember that a holiday should always include relaxation to recharge before heading back to normal routines and Tuscany Equestrian provides all the tools required: air-conditioning, safety boxes, in-room fridge and comfortable beds.... as well as 2 outdoor hot tubs, a Spa area with an indoor hot tub and sauna (used privately for groups of up to 6 guests) and a gym with treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical and weight machine.

You will have the opportutity to rest your body and pamper it, as well as your soul as you enjoy the natural beauty all around you.

The stunning views all around the estate make it the perfect location for special holidays as well as weddings and work retreats or business meetings with 2 spacious meeting rooms.

The love of horses

Whether you know how to ride or not, you will discover an appreciation for the magnificent animals once you get a chance to learn more about them as well as to explore the Val d'Orcia on horseback. The estate offers tours of the estate and beyond (from an hour to a full day outing) as well as practical lessons for anyone who has never ridden before.

If you don't want to explore the area on horseback, the resort also offers mountain bikes to explore the estate or you can just head off walking and enjoy the trails in the woods nearby.

Exploring the Val d'Orcia

While it is possible to use the resort as your base to explore most of Tuscany, we highly recommend you stay put and enjoy both the resort and the general southern area of Tuscany firstmost. The Val d'Orcia area is a UNESCO heritage site and for good reason. You will enjoy views of the stunning countryside in every direction whatever you might be enjoying, it will be a central part of your experience as you sit and watch the sunset or sip a glass of wine.

Within the area, you should most definitely head to and enjoy the local cheese and views in Pienza, the gorgeous views from the charming town of San Quirico d'Orcia, the hot springs at Bagno Vignoni, San Filippo and Chianciano Terme and the wines of Montepulciano and Montalcino. Climb to the top of the fortress in Radicofani and imagine being back in time on the defensive outpost for Siena.

A little further away are the medieval towns of Siena and Arezzo and the hilltop town of Cortona that all merit at least a day to explore.

If you'd like to go to Florence, you can use the free transfer shuttle that the resort offers to the nearby Chiusi train station and from there take the train to Florence without a need to worry about driving to or in the city or looking for parking.

Most of all, the Val d'Orcia invites you to spend more of your time outdoors and to explore its stunning views and natural beauty.

Meet Gianluca Magri, the owner of Tuscany Equestrian Resort

I am Gianluca Magri, an entrepeneur from Varese who made the life-altering decision to leave the world of plastic (my family company produced single use plates and cutlery) and dedicate myself to rediscovering the riches of Italy, starting from Tuscany. Nature and horses brought me to the Val d'Orcia where I have created a new world, Tuscany Equestrian, a dream which I wish to share with others.
