The careful restoration of the Castle in 1990 created the perfect mix of B&B rooms with views of the valley and courtyard with vacation rental apartments including fully equipped kitchenettes where one can explore the local cuisine by cooking up a traditional pasta dish. The decor of the castle is simple yet tasteful, with clear crisp colors and open spaces, inviting you to pick a spot, open a bottle of wine and revel in the enchanting views of the valley. The awe and wonder of strolling through this picturesque hamlet will transport you to another epoca, where you can easily imagine the life of those working the land and living to protect their home. There are 6 bed and breakfast rooms, many with a view of the valley and some with a vista on the castle courtyard. The self catering rental apartments boast a comfortable living room area, a small but serviceable kitchen and private bathrooms. The apartments are individual in style and disposition with terraces, balconies, fireplaces and typical Tuscan architectural accents.

Though the castle, first documented in the early 1200’s is a monument to the antique architecture of Tuscany the owners have modernized the fortress with Wi FI throughout and a special scenic pool. After a day of exploring the many nearby sites, the fresh and inviting pool is just what you need. The Castle provides a fortifying breakfast for its B&B guests and upon request, for a small fee, provide fresh coffee, milk, yogurt and more for those who are staying in the vacation rentals. The onsite restaurant will delight and tempt your tastebuds not only with the local pastas and meat courses but also with an excellent collection of quality Italian wines. The chef and owner often coordinate special events at the restaurant that combine the local wholesome dishes with wines and olive oils from nearby producers.

Pull out your swimsuit and bring it with you when you visit Bagno Vignoni with its disarming beauty, antique Roman pool and thermal waters. Not too far away is Montalcino, another hill top town with quaint cobblestone alleys and a fun nightlife with cafes, bars and live music. Abbazia San’Antimo former Benedictine monastery offers a serene and suggestive backdrop as you tour the countryside close to the rental vacation apartments.

Plan your day trips to include the evocative sites of Tuscany famous not only for their art and monumental importance but also for their traditional foods and wines, warm hospitality and historic skylines. Just a little over 50 km is Siena, with its shell shaped main square and marble fountains. The Tuscan coast with its natural parks and sandy beaches at Grosseto are just a 75 km on a lovely panoramic road. Though the wines in this area are exceptional, it would only be fair to explore the possibilities in Chianti, Arezzo and Montepulciano.
