My name is Maria Pellizzari, just like my maternal grandmother and from whom I inherited Palazzo Malaspina. After a long period away, I returned to San Donato in Poggio with the desire to give new life to this special house full of memories and, in 2003, the B&B opened its doors. During the long months of restoring the palace I kept my guests' comfort in mind while maintaining the characteristics of the building in place as well as furnishings belonging to my family. My wish has always been to make guests feel welcome in a private home with its history.
I live in a small apartment within Palazzo Malaspina in order to personally welcome my guests, serving breakfast every morning. It is a pleasure to hear from guests appreciation for my hospitality as well as my homemade cakes and jams. I often receive comments similar to this one from Betty and Dun from the USA:
"Maria, the breakfasts were grand, especially the flourless chocolate cake! Simply yummy! We hope to see you again!"
I look forward to welcoming you to my home,
~ Maria Pellizzari
